{"id":1183,"date":"2023-11-25T12:52:37","date_gmt":"2023-11-25T12:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/we-stand-with-our-brilliant-international-nhs-colleagues-after-jenrick-plan-to-cap-migrant-workers\/"},"modified":"2023-11-25T12:52:37","modified_gmt":"2023-11-25T12:52:37","slug":"we-stand-with-our-brilliant-international-nhs-colleagues-after-jenrick-plan-to-cap-migrant-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/we-stand-with-our-brilliant-international-nhs-colleagues-after-jenrick-plan-to-cap-migrant-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"We stand with our brilliant international NHS colleagues after Jenrick plan to cap migrant workers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to calls by immigration minister Robert Jenrick for a cap on the number of international NHS workers able to come to the UK, Dr Ayan Basu, vice-chair of the Doctors Association UK (DAUK), said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;DAUK stands with our brilliant international colleagues working in the NHS &#8211; without them there wouldn\u2019t be a National Health Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Immigrants and children of immigrants make up more than two fifths of the total NHS workforce and are dedicated to saving lives and looking after people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This group of people are continuing to prop up our failing health system and without them things would be so much worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Therefore this treatment of them is beyond unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There are thousands of vacant healthcare roles and growing waiting lists.
