{"id":2861,"date":"2026-04-21T17:32:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T16:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/?p=2861"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:32:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T16:32:15","slug":"dauk-warns-of-creeping-corporatisation-as-private-provider-targets-gp-partnerships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/dauk-warns-of-creeping-corporatisation-as-private-provider-targets-gp-partnerships\/","title":{"rendered":"DAUK warns of \u2018creeping corporatisation\u2019 as private provider targets GP partnerships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Doctors\u2019 Association UK (DAUK) has expressed concern following reports a private healthcare company is offering to \u2018liberate\u2019 GP partners from the responsibilities of running NHS practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gponline.com\/private-provider-offers-liberate-gp-partners-running-nhs-practices\/article\/1954623\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gponline.com\/private-provider-offers-liberate-gp-partners-running-nhs-practices\/article\/1954623\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a report in GP Online<\/a>, Operose Health has approached practices with proposals to take over their NHS contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DAUK GP lead Dr Steve Taylor warned that such models risk fundamentally reshaping general practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s a sort of creeping corporatisation of general practice, which I think in the end will basically cause worse care,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Taylor followed up the article with <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DrSteveTaylor\/status\/2046200598832275873\">a post on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said: \u201cGeneral practice at risk. Email from Operose Health is a sign of things to come, creeping corporatisation of general practice, which will end in worse care<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere has been a significant decline in GP partners as costs rise and no funds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are a non-profit campaigning and lobbying organisation led by frontline doctors, for frontline doctors.
