On December 22, the most recent date with complete data for the whole of the UK, there were 21,286.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctors in London said that their hospitals were beginning to resemble war zones, while those in Wales put out an urgent call for anyone with experience working in intensive care to come forward to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Doctors\u2019 Association UK said that social distancing and limiting contacts were vital to avoid pushing intensive care to breaking point.
