{"id":645,"date":"2021-01-12T23:01:45","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T23:01:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/dauk-in-the-daily-mirror-coronavirus-vaccine-chaos-with-appointments-axed-last-minute-as-surgeries-wait-for-jab\/"},"modified":"2021-01-12T23:01:45","modified_gmt":"2021-01-12T23:01:45","slug":"dauk-in-the-daily-mirror-coronavirus-vaccine-chaos-with-appointments-axed-last-minute-as-surgeries-wait-for-jab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/dauk-in-the-daily-mirror-coronavirus-vaccine-chaos-with-appointments-axed-last-minute-as-surgeries-wait-for-jab\/","title":{"rendered":"DAUK in the Daily Mirror: Coronavirus vaccine chaos with appointments axed last minute as surgeries wait for jab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dauk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/macau-photo-agency-k4z_E8YohnQ-unsplash-1024x834.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4441\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Covid vaccine rollout could turn into a PPE-style fiasco, MPs, doctors and care chiefs warned last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hundreds of GP surgeries and scores of hospitals are still waiting for Pfizer jabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vaccine appointments for the most vulnerable are being cancelled at the last minute because of the delay, doctors say.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And 12,000 of the country\u2019s 15,000 care homes are not even being considered for jabs right now \u2013 with only seven areas of England getting them so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health leaders have also raised concerns many frontline NHS staff are still not being sent for jabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Christmas Eve the Government said 616,933 people in the UK had been given a first dose \u2013 512,594 in England.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s understood half of England\u2019s 135 trusts are still waiting, along with hundreds of surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday MPs warned ministers not to repeat the PPE and testing \u201cshambles\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Doctors Association UK said surgeries have reported failed deliveries of the Pfizer jab.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Dr Vinesh Patel told of \u201cpractices booking in patients, and then cancelling because of promised vaccines not turning up\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GPs in Warwickshire have 3,500 over-80s to vaccinate at a country club in Leek Wootton.
