{"id":803,"date":"2021-04-15T10:45:04","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T09:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/dauks-chair-dr-jenny-vaughan-in-the-guardian-two-directors-to-step-down-at-suffolk-hospital-hit-by-witch-hunt-claims\/"},"modified":"2021-04-15T10:45:04","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T09:45:04","slug":"dauks-chair-dr-jenny-vaughan-in-the-guardian-two-directors-to-step-down-at-suffolk-hospital-hit-by-witch-hunt-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dauk.org\/dauks-chair-dr-jenny-vaughan-in-the-guardian-two-directors-to-step-down-at-suffolk-hospital-hit-by-witch-hunt-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"DAUK&#8217;s Chair Dr Jenny Vaughan in The Guardian: &#8220;Two directors to step down at Suffolk hospital hit by \u2018witch-hunt\u2019 claims&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dauk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/daan-stevens-yGUuMIqjIrU-unsplash-1024x653.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5230\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two directors at Matt Hancock\u2019s local hospital are to step down, it has been announced ahead of the publication of a delayed review into a \u201cwitch-hunt\u201d for a whistleblower involving an unprecedented demand for fingerprints from senior clinicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2020\/jan\/28\/urgent-inquiry-ordered-into-witch-hunt-at-west-suffolk-hospital\">January 2020 a \u201crapid review\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;was ordered into claims of managing bullying at West Suffolk hospital trust which the health secretary had to recuse himself from because of his friendship with the trust\u2019s chief executive, Steve Dunn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Days before the review is expected to be published, Dunn emailed staff to announce that two of his colleagues on the board were due to stand down early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Dr Jenny Vaughan, chair of the Doctors\u2019 Association UK, said: \u201cDoctors that approached DAUK said they felt persecuted. The concern is that this long awaited report has still not seen the light of day and less than 60% of West Suffolk staff feel they are treated fairly when they raise patient safety concerns.<\/p><p><br>\u201cWe note recent events but we agree that family should come first for the medical director. The report we hope will be totally rigorous when it comes to examining the actions of the executive.
